Overview

 

The ChicagoLand Glider Council is sponsoring a day long spring soaring and safety seminar open to anyone.  Safety, medicine, racing, competition, gear, gliders and gab will be on the agenda.  Click here to download the registration form.

 

The ChicagoLand Glider Council is a non-profit organization of over 200 members which was formed in 1937 and has a long history of dedication to the advancement and safety of soaring flight.  The Council hosts off-season (October through April) meetings with scheduled speakers at a local venue.  The Council also provides youth grants and helps underwrite local soaring events.

 

The cost of this Seminar is being underwritten by the ChicagoLand Glider Council and is being kept as reasonably priced as possible to allow as many pilots as possible to attend.

Location

The location of the seminar is Elgin, Illinois (northwest of Chicago) at the Business Conference Center of Elgin Community College’s impressive and modern Seigle Auditorium (see picture below).  For more details on the Seigle Auditorium, click here.  See Maps and Directions for driving directions.

Costs

Cost of the seminar is $50 with a $10 DISCOUNT for ChicagoLand Glider Council members. The cost includes a breakfast buffet, lunch, and afternoon break refreshments. Non-member cost will include a free one year membership in the ChicagoLand Glider Council which entitles you to attend Council functions and receive our newsletter.

  • Non-Members: $50
  • CLGC Members Day of registrations (after deadline): $45
  • Non-Members Day of registrations (after deadline): $55

There is a $5 fee for "Day of" registrations after the registration deadline. So, please get your reservations in early! Thank you.  

 

Registration

 

Registration is limited to 200 participants.    Registration is via surface mail only.  Please fill out the registration form and return with payment  to the address indicated on the form.  Payment  must be via check or money order payable to ChicagoLand Glider Council. Please completed and returned the registration form as early as possible so that we can get an accurate head count.

 

Registration Deadlines

 

The registration deadline is February 5th, 2011  -  This will allow the ChicagoLand Glider Council the necessary time to email a confirmation to you.  An event package will be provided to you on the day of the Seminar.

 

  

Optional "Dutch Treat" Dinner Information"

 

A dinner with the speakers is scheduled for 6:30PM (drinks at 6PM) following the Seminar. This dinner will be held at the Jimmy's Charhouse in Elgin, IL. This dinner will be "dutch treat" (except for the speakers, of course!). All are welcome but we will have to limit the total number of participants to 25. Vendor and Club Tables (FREE by Request)

 

There will be several FREE tables of vendors with aviation and soaring related products.   The vendor Cumulus Soaring (http://cumulus-soaring.com) is confirmed.   

There will also be space available for local club oriented information available. So, bring information from your club along!

Hotel Information

 

The Country Inn & Suites hotel located in Elgin, IL, is preferred for Seminar participants as it is the most conveniently located hotel to the Elgin Community College business conference center.
